French marketing & websites

French websites and campaigns written for the market, not translated at it

We build French websites and run French paid search, social media and SEO for UK businesses selling into France and other francophone markets. Content is written by native speakers and planned around what French customers search for and expect to see.

The market

Understanding the French market

French is often assumed to be the easy first market: close by, familiar platforms, no script issues. The difficulty is competitive rather than technical. French buyers compare carefully, expect formality in B2B, and quickly disregard a site that reads as translated.

Search behaviour differs too. The literal translation of a UK term is often not the phrase with the volume, French words run longer and make ads harder to write, and francophone markets outside France use different vocabulary again.

Search and ads

French search, paid media and AI discovery

Our French SEO covers healthcare, tourism, eCommerce, logistics and B2B clients. French PPC is often cost-effective: France has a large online population but lower search volumes than some markets, which can mean lower competition and bids.

We also help brands become clearly understood by AI assistants in French, through consistent entity information and well-structured French content that complements SEO.

Client words

The multilingual language service that ExtraDigital provide not only allows us to communicate to our French and Spanish consumers, but the management also allows us the time to test creatives and measure the effectiveness of each channel in those markets.

Social media

French social media

We have run French social media for years, including French and Spanish channels for RealD 3D and French Facebook marketing for Supreme Pet Foods. French users value well-produced, informative content, are privacy-conscious, and often engage in discussion rather than passive liking.

Websites

French websites and eCommerce

We develop French websites that reflect how French users expect digital platforms to function, communicate and build trust. Navigation, forms, currency formats, legal pages and reassurance messaging are set to French norms.

French eCommerce stores are built on Shopify, WooCommerce and CS-Cart, structured around how French customers research, compare and commit to a purchase.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Is French content the same for France, Belgium and Canada?

No. Vocabulary, pricing conventions and tone differ, and Canadian French needs its own treatment. We confirm the target market before writing.

Do French campaigns need separate accounts?

Separate campaign structures, yes, so budgets, negatives and bidding can be controlled per market. Management stays with one team.

Can you work from our existing French translations?

We can review them. Translations produced for print or legal purposes usually need reworking for search and conversion.
