UK Mum’s Love Facebook and YouTube

UK mum’s are short on time, so as well as wanting to stay in contact with friends and family they are using social media and mobile as key points of contact for brands.

social marketing to UK mumsResearch undertaken by BabyCentre in March 2013 found that Facebook and YouTube were the leading social media sites for UK mum’s between 18 to 34 years old.

The research also found that 51% of the mum’s they polled owned a laptop, tablet and/or smartphone. This is a much higher uptake than the general UK population.

BabyCentre, also found in May in conjunction with comScore that 89% of UK expectant mum’s use smartphones or tablets to check Facebook at least weekly, ahead of personal email.

Why mums are a key target audience

Mums, and especially expectant mums, are a very important target audience, as they are often the primary buyers in the home. And for those with a child on the way, they are likely to be rethinking, or just deciding on, their brand preferences.

It’s clear from the current research that mobile and social are now the key places to reach these consumers.
